Artificial Intelligence (AI) giant OpenAI has officially registered its first local unit in India and is preparing to open its New Delhi office later this year. The move highlights India’s rapid growth as one of ChatGPT’s most important markets.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said:

“The level of excitement and opportunity for AI in India is incredible. India has all the ingredients to become a global AI leader—top tech talent, a world-class developer ecosystem, and strong government support. Opening our first office and building a local team is an important step in making advanced AI accessible across the country.”
