New Delhi | August 24, 2025 — Google has issued a strong directive to its global workforce: adopt artificial intelligence in your daily work or risk falling behind in the fast-paced tech race.

At a time when rivals such as Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta are aggressively embedding AI into their operations, Google is accelerating its own push to ensure it stays competitive. CEO Sundar Pichai has made it clear that AI must be integrated across workflows to improve speed, efficiency, and innovation.

Productivity Boost from AI Adoption

According to an internal rollout cited by Business Insider, engineers who used Google’s new AI tools experienced a 10% increase in weekly productivity. Encouraged by these results, the company now plans to expand AI adoption across all departments, from software engineering to business operations.

AI Training for Employees

To support this shift, Google has launched “AI Savvy Google”, a company-wide training initiative. The program includes specialised courses, interactive toolkits, and hands-on workshops designed to help employees master AI-powered tools.

One highlight of the initiative is Cider, Google’s AI-driven coding assistant. Already, half of the engineers with access to Cider have adopted it, signaling strong acceptance of AI in day-to-day development.

Brian Saluzzo, Vice President and General Manager of Core Developer at Google, assured employees that AI tools would soon become “a pretty integral part of most software engineering work,” adding that the company feels an urgency to embed AI quickly across coding workflows.

Balancing Support vs. Replacement

While competitors often frame AI as a substitute for human jobs, Google appears to be positioning it more as a support system. The company’s focus on upskilling rather than replacing workers suggests an intent to enhance human productivity rather than eliminate roles outright.
