Google has released a teaser video for its upcoming Pixel 10 series, taking a direct jab at Apple over the delayed rollout of AI-powered features in Siri. The teaser, shared by Google India on X (formerly Twitter), showcases the Pixel 10 Pro in a new color and features a voiceover that sarcastically comments on Apple's unfulfilled AI promises.
In the video, Google indirectly refers to Apple’s WWDC 2024 announcement by stating, "If you bought a new phone just for a feature that's 'coming soon' – but it’s been 'coming soon' for an entire year – maybe it’s time to change your phone." The background music is an instrumental version of Dr. Dre's “The Next Episode”, likely a subtle dig referencing Apple’s 2014 acquisition of Beats by Dre.
Apple’s AI Features Delayed to 2026
At WWDC 2024, Apple introduced ambitious AI-powered upgrades for Siri, including:
Personal context awareness
In-app action control
On-screen understanding
However, Apple’s SVP of Global Marketing, Greg Joswiak, recently confirmed in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that these features have been pushed to 2026, citing internal quality standards not being met.
What to Expect from the Pixel 10 Series
Google is set to officially unveil the Pixel 10 lineup at its Made by Google event on August 20. Expected models include:
Pixel 10
Pixel 10 Pro
Pixel 10 Pro XL
Pixel 10 Pro Fold
Key Highlights:
Tensor G5 Chipset: Built on TSMC’s 3nm process, promising better performance and energy efficiency.
Camera: Some models may use the same main and ultra-wide sensors from the Pixel 9a, with the 5x periscope telephoto lens potentially available even on the base model.
Charging: Support for Qi2 magnetic wireless charging with a new 25W standard for faster charging.
Accessories: Google may also launch a new accessory lineup under the ‘Pixelsnap’ brand, featuring magnetic chargers and custom-fit cases.
With this ad campaign, Google is not just promoting its upcoming phones — it’s positioning itself as a leader in the AI race, while poking fun at a major rival. All eyes are now on August 20, when Google officially takes the wraps off the Pixel 10 series.
